About.

Hailed as having an engaging and relaxed presence both in person and performance, Laura McCue is an oboist in the Greater Boston area who already has accumulated over a decade of performance experience. As a recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, Laura is a bright and accomplished musician. She was awarded the Snug Harbor Community Chorus Private Lesson Grant and performed twice alongside the ensemble. She regularly can be seen in a variety of performance settings, such as the Plymouth, Massachusetts’ Independence Day parade with the American Legion Marching Band and the Kingston, Massachusetts winter luminaries festival.

Being a multi-talented musician, Laura often finds herself thriving in unconventional performance spaces. She has successfully street-performed in Plymouth, Provincetown, and Boston, drawing large crowds and becoming established in the area. Attending one of her shows is a warm, engaging, and sometimes even interactive experience.

Laura is a member of the International Double Reed Society and goes to the annual meetings where she has attended master classes taught by Anthony Anurca and also Gordon Hunt. She likes to perform orchestral music, oboe repertoire by Handel and Marcello, and more contemporary pieces for unique audiences.

As a personable, professional colleague and friend, Laura is quick to light up the room with a joke and a poetic tune. When not practicing oboe, she either can be found playing fetch with her two Dalmatians Jenny and Rhodie, or painting landscapes of New England.
